How ECUTEK Tuning Works
- ECU Connect Device: EcuTek Flashes the ECU via an ECU Connect dongle. This dongle plugs into your OBD port and uses bluetooth to allow you to live view parameters, check CELs, and datalog.
- Vehicle License: EcuTek Licenses each ECU that we want to tune. So if your ECU is already licensed, all you need to do is purchase a tune. Otherwise you need a license.
- Phone Flash Activation: You CAN flash the ECU using the bluetooth ECU Connect dongle if you also choose PhoneFlash. PhoneFlash is available for 2008+ Subaru, Mazda, BMW. If you don't select PhoneFlash, you can still use the dongle to view parameters and log but you won't be able to receive map files remotely from us.
- Note that the Phone Flash feature is not available for the Subaru K-Line 2004 - Flash with ProECU instead.
- The PhoneFlash App is on both the Google and Apple App stores and it is free to download.
- Remote Activation via ProECU is the alternative solution for Subaru K-Line 2004.
- If you are bringing your car into our shop to tune, you DON'T NEED ECU Connect Device or Remote / PhoneFlash Activation. We use our own tool to flash the ECU. You do NEED to purchase a license for the ECU unless it was already licensed via EcuTek. However if you want to view parameters, datalog, or flash at home you need the ECU Connect dongle (logging, viewing) and PhoneFlash (flashing).
TL DR: If you are a remote tune customer and have never flashed via EcuTek you will need the ECU Connect Device + Vehicle License + Remote / Phone Flash Activation
